DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 114/2024
of 12 June 2024
amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement [2024/2470]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/671 of 4 February 2022 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards specific rules on official controls performed by the competent authorities on animals, products of animal origin and germinal products, follow-up action to be taken by the competent authority in case of non-compliance with identification and registration rules for bovine, ovine and caprine animals or of non-compliance during transit through the Union of certain bovine animals, and repealing Commission Regulation (EC) No 494/98 ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.
(2) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/160 of 4 February 2022 laying down uniform minimum frequencies of certain official controls to verify compliance with Union animal health requirements in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Regulations (EC) No 1082/2003 and (EC) No 1505/2006 ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.
(3) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/160 repeals Commission Regulation (EC) No 1082/2003 ( 3 ) and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1505/2006 ( 4 ) , which are incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which are consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.
(4) Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/671 repeals Commission Regulation (EC) No 494/98 ( 5 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.
(5) This Decision concerns, inter alia, legislation regarding live animals other than fish and aquaculture animals and animal products such as ova, embryo and semen. Legislation concerning these matters shall not apply to Iceland, as specified in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part of Chapter I of Annex I to the EEA Agreement.
(6) This Decision concerns legislation regarding veterinary matters. Legislation regarding veterinary matters shall not apply to Liechtenstein as long as the application of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products is extended to Liechtenstein, as specified in the sectoral adaptations to Annex I to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Liechtenstein.
(7) Annex I to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Part 1 of Chapter I of Annex I to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

This act applies to Iceland for the areas referred to in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part.

This act applies to Iceland for the areas referred to in paragraph 2 of the Introductory Part.’

The texts of points 76 (Commission Regulation (EC) No 494/98), 131 (Commission Regulation (EC) No 1505/2006) and 140 (Commission Regulation (EC) No 1082/2003) are deleted.
Article 2
The texts of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/671 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/160 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on 13 June 2024, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .
Article 4
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
