COUNCIL IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2024/1776

implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1428 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Council Regulation (EU) 2024/1428 of 17 May 2024 amending Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 concerning restrictive measures in view of Russia’s actions destabilising the situation in Ukraine (1), and in particular Article 1 thereof,

Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,

Whereas:

(1) On 31 July 2014, the Council adopted Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 (2).

(2) On 17 May 2024, the Council adopted Regulation (EU) 2024/1428, which amended Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 and introduced further restrictive measures to suspend the broadcasting activities in the Union, or directed at the Union, of certain media outlets referred to in the Annex to Regulation (EU) 2024/1428. Pursuant to Article 1 of that Regulation, the applicability of such measures in respect of one or several of those media outlets is subject to the adoption of implementing acts by the Council.

(3) Having examined the respective cases, the Council has concluded that the measures referred to in Article 2f of Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 should apply as of 25 June 2024 in respect of all entities referred to in the Annex to Regulation (EU) 2024/1428,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

The restrictive measures referred to in Article 2f of Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 shall apply as of 25 June 2024 in respect of all entities referred to in the Annex to Regulation (EU) 2024/1428.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the

Official Journal of the European Union

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
