DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 79/2021

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2024/76]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1167 of 6 August 2020 on the approval of the technology used in a 48 Volt efficient motor-generator combined with a 48 Volt/12 Volt DC/DC converter for use in conventional combustion engine and certain hybrid electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles as an innovative technology pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1168 of 6 August 2020 amending Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/587 as regards efficient vehicle exterior lighting using light emitting diodes in passenger cars capable of running on certain alternative fuels ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Annex XX to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

The following indent is added in point 21aet (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/587):

‘—

32020 D 1168 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1168 of 6 August 2020 ( OJ L 258, 7.8.2020, p. 27 ).’

The following point is inserted after point 21azc (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1339):

‘21azd.

32020 D 1167 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1167 of 6 August 2020 on the approval of the technology used in a 48 Volt efficient motor-generator combined with a 48 Volt/12 Volt DC/DC converter for use in conventional combustion engine and certain hybrid electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles as an innovative technology pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( OJ L 258, 7.8.2020, p. 15 ).’

Article 2

The texts of Implementing Decisions (EU) 2020/1167 and (EU) 2020/1168 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 6 February 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) , or on the day of the entry into force of Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 168/2020 of 23 October 2020 ( 3 ) , whichever is the later.

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
