DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 72/2021

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2024/83]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1803 of 27 November 2020 establishing the EU Ecolabel criteria for printed paper, stationery paper, and paper carrier bag products ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1804 of 27 November 2020 establishing the EU Ecolabel criteria for electronic displays ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1805 of 27 November 2020 amending Decisions 2014/350/EU and (EU) 2016/1349 extending the period of validity of the ecological criteria for the award of the EU Ecolabel to textile products and footwear and of the related assessment and verification requirements ( 3 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(4) Decision (EU) 2020/1803 repeals Commission Decisions 2012/481/EU ( 4 ) and 2014/256/EU ( 5 ) , which are incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which are consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.

(5) Decision (EU) 2020/1804 repeals Commission Decision 2009/300/EC ( 6 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.

(6) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Annex XX to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

The following is added in point 2g (Commission Decision (EU) 2016/1349):

‘, as amended by:

— 32020 D 1805 : Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1805 of 27 November 2020 ( OJ L 402, 1.12.2020, p. 89 ).’

The text of point 2j (Commission Decision 2009/300/EC) is replaced by the following:

‘ 32020 D 1804 : Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1804 of 27 November 2020 establishing the EU Ecolabel criteria for electronic displays ( OJ L 402, 1.12.2020, p. 73 ).’

The following indent is added in point 2zn (Commission Decision 2014/350/EU):

‘—

32020 D 1805 : Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1805 of 27 November 2020 ( OJ L 402, 1.12.2020, p. 89 ).’

The following point is inserted after point 2zr (Commission Decision (EU) 2019/70):

‘2zs.

32020 D 1803 : Commission Decision (EU) 2020/1803 of 27 November 2020 establishing the EU Ecolabel criteria for printed paper, stationery paper, and paper carrier bag products ( OJ L 402, 1.12.2020, p. 53 ).’

The texts of points 2zf (Commission Decision 2012/481/EU) and 2zl (Commission Decision 2014/256/EU) are deleted.

Article 2

The texts of Commission Decisions (EU) 2020/1803, (EU) 2020/1804 and (EU) 2020/1805 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 6 February 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
