DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 178/2021

amending Annex XVIII (Health and safety at work, labour law, and equal treatment for men and women) to the EEA Agreement [2024/170]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Council Directive (EU) 2017/159 of 19 December 2016 implementing the Agreement concerning the implementation of the Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 of the International Labour Organisation, concluded on 21 May 2012 between the General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives in the European Union (Cogeca), the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) and the Association of National Organisations of Fishing Enterprises in the European Union (Europêche) ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Annex XVIII to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following is inserted after point 32o (Council Directive (EU) 2018/131) of Annex XVIII to the EEA Agreement:

32017 L 0159 : Council Directive (EU) 2017/159 of 19 December 2016 implementing the Agreement concerning the implementation of the Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 of the International Labour Organisation, concluded on 21 May 2012 between the General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives in the European Union (Cogeca), the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) and the Association of National Organisations of Fishing Enterprises in the European Union (Europêche) ( OJ L 25, 31.1.2017, p. 12 ).

The provisions of the Directive shall, for the purposes of this Agreement, be read with the following adaptation:

References to Union law shall be understood as references to the EEA Agreement.’

Article 2

The text of Directive (EU) 2017/159 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 12 June 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
