DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 209/2021

amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement [2024/304]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1922 of 18 November 2019 amending, for the purposes of adaptation to technical and scientific developments, point 13 of part III of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the safety of toys, as regards aluminium ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1929 of 19 November 2019 amending Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council for the purpose of adopting specific limit values for chemicals used in certain toys, as regards formaldehyde ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex II to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following indents are added in point 1a (Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Chapter XXIII of Annex II to the EEA Agreement:

‘-

32019 L 1922 : Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1922 of 18 November 2019 ( OJ L 298, 19.11.2019, p. 5 ),

- 32019 L 1929 : Commission Directive (EU) 2019/1929 of 19 November 2019 ( OJ L 299, 20.11.2019, p. 51 ).’

Article 2

The texts of Directives (EU) 2019/1922 and (EU) 2019/1929 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 10 July 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
