DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE no 246/2021

amending Annex XI (Electronic communication, audiovisual services and information society) to the EEA Agreement [2024/496]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Regulation (EU) 2018/644 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 April 2018 on cross-border parcel delivery services ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1263 of 20 September 2018 establishing the forms for the submission of information by parcel delivery service providers pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2018/644 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex XI to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following is inserted after point 5da (Commission Decision 2010/C 217/07) of Annex XI to the EEA Agreement:

‘5db.

32018 R 0644 : Regulation (EU) 2018/644 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 April 2018 on cross-border parcel delivery services ( OJ L 112, 2.5.2018, p. 19 ).

The provisions of the Regulation shall, for the purposes of this Agreement, be read with the following adaptation:

References to Union law shall be understood as references to the EEA Agreement.

Article 2

The texts of Regulation (EU) 2018/644 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1263 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 25 September 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) , or on the day of the entry into force of Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 136/2020 of 25 September 2020 ( 3 ) , whichever is the later.

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
