COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING DECISION (EU) 2021/1311

of 30 July 2021

on the recognition of the Hrvatski Registar Brodova (Croatian Register of Shipping) as a classification society for inland waterway vessels in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/1629 of the European Parliament and of the Council

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Directive (EU) 2016/1629 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 2016 laying down technical requirements for inland waterway vessels, amending Directive 2009/100/EC and repealing Directive 2006/87/EC (1), and in particular Article 21(1) thereof,

After consulting the Committee established pursuant to Article 7 of Council Directive 91/672/EEC of 16 December 1991 on the reciprocal recognition of national boat masters’ certificates for the carriage of goods and passengers by inland waterway (2),

Whereas:

(1) Croatia has submitted to the Commission an application for the recognition of the Hrvatski Registar Brodova (hereinafter ‘HRB’) as a classification society in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/1629.

(2) Croatia has also submitted the necessary information and documentation in order to enable the Commission to check that the criteria for recognition are met.

(3) As the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine (CCNR) has built up significant expertise in developing and updating technical requirements for inland navigation vessels, and in order to foster the development of uniform requirements in this area, the Commission asked the Secretariat of the CCNR to provide a report aimed at facilitating the technical analysis of the data concerning the HRB.

(4) The Commission, after assessing the information and documentation accompanying the application for recognition, at which it was taking into account the report prepared by the Secretariat of the CCNR, has come to the conclusion that the HRB meets the criteria set out in Annex VI to Directive (EU) 2016/1629,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The Hrvatski Registar Brodova is recognised as a classification society for inland waterways vessels in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/1629.

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the

Official Journal of the European Union
