AGREEMENT IN THE FORM OF AN EXCHANGE OF LETTERS
between the European Union and the United Mexican States concerning the replacement of Annex I and II to the Agreement between the European Community and the United Mexican States on the mutual recognition and protection of designations for spirit drinks

Madam,
I have the honour to refer to the meeting related to technical adaptations, that took place on 27 November 2018 and which has been held under Article 18 of the Agreement of 27 May 1997 between the European Community and the United Mexican States on the mutual recognition and protection of designations for spirit drinks, which provides that the Contracting Parties may, by mutual consent, amend this Agreement.
The meeting resulted in the agreement to replace Annex I and Annex II to the Agreement between the European Community and the United Mexican States on the mutual recognition and protection of designations for spirit drinks, in accordance with the Annex to this letter, with effect as of 31 January 2020.
I would be grateful if you could confirm the agreement of the United Mexican States with the above.

Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of (date) which reads as follows:
‘I have the honour to refer to the meeting related to technical adaptations, that took place on 27 November 2018 and which has been held under Article 18 of the Agreement of 27 May 1997 between the European Community and the United Mexican States on the mutual recognition and protection of designations for spirit drinks, which provides that the Contracting Parties may, by mutual consent, amend this Agreement.
The meeting resulted in the agreement to replace Annex I and Annex II to the Agreement between the European Community and the United Mexican States on the mutual recognition and protection of designations for spirit drinks, in accordance with the Annex to this letter, with effect as of 31 January 2020.
I would be grateful if you could confirm the agreement of the United Mexican States with the above.’
I have the further honour to confirm that the United Mexican States shares this understanding and that your letter and this letter in reply constitute an understanding between the European Union and the Government of the United Mexican States that shall take effect as of 31 January 2020.
