DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 85/2022

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2022/1153]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1885 of 6 November 2019 laying down rules for the calculation, verification and reporting of data on landfill of municipal waste in accordance with Council Directive 1999/31/EC and repealing Commission Decision 2000/738/EC  ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1885 repeals Commission Decision 2000/738/EC  ( 2 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The text of point 32da (Commission Decision 2000/738/EC) of Annex XX of the EEA Agreement is replaced by the following:

‘ 32019 D 1885 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1885 of 6 November 2019 laying down rules for the calculation, verification and reporting of data on landfill of municipal waste in accordance with Council Directive 1999/31/EC and repealing Commission Decision 2000/738/EC ( OJ L 290, 11.11.2019, p. 18 ).’

Article 2

The text of Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1885 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 19 March 2022, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made  ( * ) , or on the day of the entry into force of Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 318/2021 of 29 October 2021  ( 3 ) , whichever is the later.

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
